HOLDING PATTERN

A Holding Pattern is a designated area and flight path that the fixed wing team will maintain in the air while awaiting further orders. It is generally a large circle pattern either off to one side of the main combat zone (AAO) or near the main combat zone with the radius determined by the threat in the area.

HP POSITIONS AND USE

  • Evenly spaced around 2 points, Marked HP1 and HP2.
  • Orbiting around in same direction.
  • Should always be a altitude 600m or higher to avoid collision with XRAY.
  • Different conditions will determine the HP.
    • DURING A XRAY INSERT(Fast Response)
      • Lower altitude
      • Close to AO 
    • SAFE AIRSPACE, MISSION UNDERWAY (Fast-Med Response)
      • Mid Altitude
      • Safe Distance
    • AAA THREAT (Slow Reponse)
      • High Altitude
      • Far Distance
  • All RAVEN assets need to give way to the RAVEN currently receiving tasking and right of way in all conditions.
