Cordon Operations

  • cordon is the act of securing an area in a ring type fashion by blocking key avenues of escape or approach to the area.
  • is not always a complete ring but a focus on the most likely escape or entry points

two types of cordon

  • Dynamic
    • adapting and fluid to the situation
    • often conducted short notice as needed
  • Fixed
    • more standard with fixed positions
    • often the initial plan or fallback plan
    • used where routes are ‘must block’

two types of setting either up

  • Stealth
    • setup a cordon undetected
  • Dynamic
    • setup under fire or while in an engagement
