Mission By Irony?
Setup and Preparation: 1915hrs (Sydney time)
Server Preparation and Mission Load: 1900hrs (Sydney time)
Briefing and Mission Launch: 1930hrs (Sydney time)
USMC 2nd Batallian 26th Marine Regiment requested Australian SF 1-3SQN reinforcements on the 7th of February 1968 after receiving prolonged artillery barrages on their defensive outposts to the West of Khe Sanh Combat Base (KSCB). The NVA attacked the perimeter at 0100 on the 8th, quickly overwhelming the joint US and Australian Defensive positions. US Command called the fallback to KSCB at 0300 and Australian forces were left to hold the outposts while the Marines were extracted. The next wave of extractions took much of the remaining Australian forces out of the perimeter defensive positions, however, the 2SQN command had already been overrun from Hill 861 Bravo and had called “Broken Arrow”. There are still many Australian’s unaccounted for in the AO.
2SQN command and any other Australian survivors are to Escape and Evade back to Hill 564 and resume defensive positions from the advancing NVA forces. Australian forces are likely low in supplies from the night’s defence and are to use anything available to them to preserve their own life.
NVA – 325th Division. Infantry (High), Mechanised Assets (Unknown), AA assets (Unknown).
(Assets believed left behind and are retreating)
2SQN – ASOR:
- 2SQN Command
- Squads ( Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta)
(Assets on standby at Khe Sanh Combat Base)
- 1SQN, 3SQN
- USMC 2/26th COY
Khe Sanh: Jungle… Don’t trust the map…
Shocking, absolutely shocking
E&E from overrun positions to Hill 564 however possible. Defend Hill 564 from NVA assault (Using MuffCorp. where applicable), and counter-attack any lost ground.
The mission will occur in SIX phases:
Phase One – Escape and Evade
Phase Two – Prepare Defenses on Hill 564
Phase Three – Resist NVA assault
Phase Four – Resist NVA assault
Phase Five – Recapture lost territory
Phase Six – Profit?
Logistics in Adversity
Player’s will be spawning in small groups in the jungle. Map markers for SQLs/FTLs/Medics/Command will be removed on mission start if that fails, members will have to remove their own marker (through self interact). Would strongly advise each squad having an FTL from the beginning. Players will be running low on supplies (this is intentional). During the E&E if you die, you will respawn at QRF, location select to HQ and fully kit up at the gear selector as you would at the start of the op, then location select to QRF and await XRAY, you will then be taken to Hill 564 where will commence construction of defences (stay of coms in that time as players may still be E&Eing). You can re-enable your map marker once at the hill. If you make it back to the Hill alive, you can wait until you die are arrange Xray to take you back to HQ to re-kit.
JIPS: ASOR Main signs will spawn in after players have left their start location. If they aren’t there, it means they are “close by”… you are on your own good luck. If they are there you can location select to QRF as usual and await pick up.
I am trying something slightly different from ASOR’s normal ops, it’s meant to be a little immersive and fun. Feel free to give me feedback AFTER the mission. Complaints mid op will probably result in more NVA following you.
Good Luck, you will need it
